Item Description
c. late 1950s. 17.75x19: high quality wood frame has double archival mat w/pair of 4.5x8.5” openings. Left side contains 4x8” printed Valentine’s Day card w/smiling female Shmoo w/hearts above her head. Text reads “Ah’ Always Knew Yor’ An Old Schmoo" and has printed signature of Al Capp at lower left. Right opening has 6.5” tall matching India ink and watercolor original art w/”Frazetta” ink signature at upper left. Art board has seven small white-out corrections, including one on Shmoo’s left cheek. Art otherwise bright and VF. Noted fantasy artist Frazetta (1928-2010) was an Al Capp assistant on “Li’l Abner” from 1953 to 1961. Delightful image, ready for display. From the Charlie Roberts collection.
