Item Description
c. 1940. Metal frame w/glass has 13.5x15.5” opening w/wonderful ink art of manager Durocher full figure in Dodgers uniform at left and manager Stengel in Braves uniform at right. Durocher compliments Stengel who has a question mark over his head, noting “ What A Swell World This Would Be If All The Players Were As Nice As The Braves And All The Managers As Fair As You Casey!” A small player holding box of cigars stands between the two facing Stengel saying “Compliments Of Mister Durocher” as other players talk in background including mention of Braves relief pitcher Errickson. Signed in ink “Bob Coyne The Boston Post” at lower right. Trace of lt. aging, otherwise Exc. Well drawn and historic showing an early meeting of two men who would become legendary managers.
