Item Description
Group begins with a small oval ferrotype 9/16" tall under glass and in a brass frame. Image is quite dark but his portrait can be seen. Likely this piece is from 1868. Second is a 1" white metal token complete with its embossed brass eagle hanger. This is DeWitt 1872-11. Front shows "President U.S. Grant" and reverse reads "Republican Candidate For President U.S. 1872" with four additional text lines at the center. A beautiful example with bright silver luster. Third is DeWitt 1868-30 in brass. This is 1-1/8" with his portrait, name and 1868 date on the front while reverse has his famous quotation reading "I Propose To Fight It Out On This Line/If It Takes All Summer." Slightly toned but gorgeous original brass luster and almost no wear on the details. NM. Last is 1" brass with name and portrait on the front. Reverse shows Pennsylvania state seal with text "Struck And Distributed In The Municipal Parade/By The Employees Of The U.S. Mint/Phila. Dec. 16, 1879." Nice luster. Don & Mildred Wright Collection.
