Item Description
3.75x5" figural porcelain wall match holder made by Royal Bayreuth in Bavaria, Germany as noted under blue maker's mark on reverse. Part of a wonderful series produced 1885-1915 and again 1945-1949 (see following items #831-832). Playing card theme, w/match holder appearing to be made of playing cards, likely an allegory about the dangers of gambling given the figural devil figure at top center embracing the cards. Tiny chip to one corner, o/w VF. Scarce.
