Item Description

27x41" one-sheet for the 1940s Toddy Pictures re-release of the 1937 Western "Harlem On The Prairie," which was billed as the first "All-Colored" Western musical, starring Herb Jeffries, Hollywood's first singing African-American cowboy. The movie reminded audiences that there were black cowboys and corrected a popular Hollywood image of an all-white Old West. Poster advertises Jeffries, w/large "King Of The Juke Box And Radio" text at top. Poster features image of Jeffries w/female co-star Connie Harris. Poster was originally folded and is evenly aged. Some minor corner tip restoration, poster now displays Exc. as linen-mounted.
