Item Description
19x26" poster printed c. 1945 for The Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemet LeIsrael), an organization founded in 1901 to buy and develop land in Ottoman Palestine (later British Mandate for Palestine, and subsequently Israel and the Palestinian territories) for Jewish settlement. The land, mostly desert at the time, was purchased by the fund, planted w/trees to stabilize the soil, making it more suitable for farming and habitation. Poster features great Modernist design w/palm tree and cactus art border and photo collage of desert, grain harvesting and tree planting. Poster features all Hebrew text. Very faint diagonal crease across top, but as linen-mounted, poster displays NM. Very rare.
