Item Description
10.25x19.5" frame contains artboard that has been matted to 5x14.5". Artboard has pen and ink original art for Sept. 6, 1980 daily strip that was written by Archie Goodwin (as Russ Helm) w/art by Alfredo Alcala (1925-2000), a Filipino comic book artist known for his Sci-Fi and Fantasy work including "Voltar, Savage Sword Of Conan" and "Swamp Thing." The "Star Wars" comic strip ran 1979-1984, making this art from the strip's second year. Strip has three panels and shows Princess Leia (sporting her iconic hairstyle) w/Chewbacca and female alien watching Imperial broadcast of Darth Vader ordering the search for all Kunda Stones on Kadril. Leia asks if there's any way to stop the broadcast, which leads the alien to lead her to a small repair pod. Chewbacca walks along w/her only to be told "Too Small For A Wookie, Chewie." Leia and Chewbacca appear in every panel. Lucasfilm, Ltd. and L.A. Times Synd. distributor paste-over strips between panels. Bottom of second panel has writer/artist names. NM and ready for display. "Star Wars" daily strips continue to rapidly grow in desirability and value.
