Item Description
8.25x13.5" on cardboard. Additional text on cardboard "Franklin D. Roosevelt" and "Counties Of Columbia, Dutchess And Putnam." Facsimile signature below image on applied paper portrait. Traces of age toning at top left affecting part of the image and along bottom edge. These areas were cleaned of minor foxing by a professional paper conservator. Otherwise only moderate handling. Fine. FDR scored a surprising victory in his first campaign for elected office in the notoriously Republican 26th State Senate District using a combination of his famous family name and cutting edge technology- renting a Maxwell Touring Car that could shuttle him to campaign events at a max speed of 20mph. Material from this 1910 campaign is very rare w/only a handful of known artifacts of which this poster and a 7/8" portrait button representing the paramount collectibles. This example displays beautifully and is one of only five known to us including the example on permanent display at the Hyde Park, NY Roosevelt Presidential Library & Museum. Mike Nichols Collection.
