Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage matte postcard depicting 10 team members posed inside a photography studio. Caption at bottom of the photo reads "Galena Independent Ball Team 1908". This 1908 Galena baseball club was not a professional team but rather a semi-pro barnstorming club that would take on all comers in the Midwest-Chicago area as was a common practice during the era. Postcard exhibits scattered foxing along with even, moderate corner wear. Divided back has been postally used with a cancellation date of January 18, 1910. Approx. 1" stain near the back, left edge. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
