Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" vintage silver gelatin postcard depicting 15 ballplayers in full uniform along with one gentleman dressed in formal attire and team mascot dog posed in front of a town store with pedestrians in the background. Postcard represents a file copy previously maintained by the Chippewa Valley Historical Museum, Inc. Notation printed on bottom of the postcard reads "Eau Claire Baseball Club" while handwritten notation reads "June 7, 1909". The 1909 Eau Claire ball club finished the 1909 season in second place with a final record of 62-57 in the Class D Minnesota-Wisconsin League under Manager, Thomas Schoonhoven. Image exhibits superb clarity, back of postcard displays glue staining throughout. Divided back remains postally unused with AZO stamp box dating it to 1904-18, which is consistent with the subject matter presented. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
