Item Description
19.75x20-7/8" artboard has pen and ink original art by Buster Brown creator R.F. Outcault (1863-1928) that has been partially hand-colored. Art is dated March 21, 1915. Sunday page features 14 panels and was produced w/o topper panel. Buster Brown Sunday pages were printed both w/and w/o toppers depending on the publication. First 13 panels feature Tige and a series of his canine friends entering yard marked "Beware Of The Cat," only to be chased out w/cat digging claws into their backs. Finally a small terrier enters and gives the cat the business. Last panel features Buster laughing at lengthy resolution. Buster and Tige appear in total of 11 panels each. Majority of first and ninth panels have been colored w/partial coloring to five other panels. Outcault has signed at bottom of last panel. Pin holes along margins. Lower right corner has sliver off bottom edge and some margins chips. Archival tape reinforcement added on back to heavy 2.25" crease. Artboard has some corner tip/margin wear and is Fine overall but art remains clean and aside from right corner crease, displays VF.
