Item Description
Last auction we offered this same image as a 2.25" real photo button and it sold for $5,711. This is even more spectacular, as it is a 3.5" real photo mirror with a 3" long black stiff wire handle. Like the pin-back, this mirror is the only example known to Hake's. This exceptional World Series souvenir proudly displays 20 portraits of the 1906 Chicago Cubs team members. The '06 Chicago Cubs ball club was widely regarded as one of the greatest baseball teams in National League history, finishing with an all-time NL best record of 116-36 but, amazingly, lost the World Series to the cross-town rival, Chicago White Sox in six games. The 1906 Cubs were led by four National Baseball Hall of Famers: Frank Chance (MGR/1B - Center), Mordecai "Three Fingers" Brown (SP - Inner circle at 7 o'clock), Joe Tinker (3B - Outer circle, bottom) and Johnny Evers (2B - Outer circle at 1 o'clock). Souvenirs were made for both the Cubs and White Sox in advance of the World Series declaring each "Champion", to date, a White Sox example has yet to surface. Silvering is about 99% intact. Light stain around .75" of the underside curl but the only evidence of this seen on the front is a 1" long  very faint and narrow  stain line on the very edge at 6 o'clock. There are 10 very shallow and very short (about 1/16" ) indent lines above the center photo and all over, but again very light and very short, typical surface scratches seen only in reflected light. High gloss and VF. Rare. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
