Item Description
Thin 10-5/8x16" sheet of stiff paper features pen and ink original art by Dick Giordano, inked by Giordano and Terry Austin for Detective Comics #457, published by DC Comics March, 1976. Page 14 features seven panels and is from classic There Is No Hope In Crime Alley! story. Art shows Batman coming to the aid of Leslie Thompkins in crime alley, urging assailants to try "Something Clever... Like Playing Tough!" When one punk pulls gun on Batman in the very alley his parents were killed, Batman snaps, advancing on the gun-toting criminal, kicking the gun out of his hand and backhanding him, shouting "You Dare -- Pull A Gun On Me -- Pull A Gun On Me Here -- Do You? DO YOU?" Batman is seen in all but third panel. Top has handwritten "Detective Comics" title, publication month and issue/page number. Top/bottom margins both have aged strip of tape at center, not affecting art. Gun in hand on fifth panel is pasted stat. Last panel has screentone accents and continuation strip paste-over. Art is VF overall. Bottom left has been signed in red felt tip pen by Dick Giordano. Back has DC copyright stamp and bottom has three strips of aged masking tape, which shows through very slightly onto to front. Classic Bronze Age Batman original art.
