Item Description
Four 15x20" Millar Publishing artboards have attached cut-out Craftint panels featuring pen and ink original art for complete four-page story originally published in DRAG Cartoons #1 in Nov. 1963 by Russ Manning (1929-1981), a comic books artist best-known for his creation Magnus, Robot Fighter as well as for his work on the Tarzan and Star Wars newspaper comic strips. Art is for Gremlin Grabber story and features young man upset that the hard work he put into his hot rod seems to have been for naught. Garage janitor shows up to tell them a Garage Gremlin is behind the car's misfortunes. The man decides to stay at the garage to spot the gremlin w/the use of the janitor's special goggles. Hearing this, his friends decide to play a prank by dressing up, only to see the gremlin (who was featured on the cover of DRAG Cartoons #1) for themselves. Story ends w/young man introducing his friends to his new "pet," the invisible gremlin. First panel has been signed by Russ Manning as "Russell George." Each artboard has stamped "Millar Publication - DRAG Cartoons" text at bottom right w/inked page numbers at lower right. Lower left has series of inked over numbers. Margins have some scattered editorial notations and artboards have corner tip wear and some margin aging. Art remains clean and Exc. From the Archives of Publisher Pete Millar.
