Item Description
14x17" artboard features pen and ink original art for page 19B of Hellboy: Almost Colossus, published by Dark Horse Comics in June 1997. Internal numbering of this issue notates issue as Hellboy #12. Art is by Mike Mignola, noted for his work on best known for creating Hellboy for Dark Horse Comics, part of a shared universe of titles including B.P.R.D., Abe Sapien, Lobster Johnson, Witchfinder and various spinoffs. Page features six panels, and shows Hellboy fighting numerous small ghouls (servants of a homunculus) as fellow BPRD member Kate Corrigan dangles from collapsed floor and ghouls start to pull her up. Hellboy is featured in three panels, w/fifth panel showing nice close-up of his face. Kate is featured clearly in fourth panels, her body's outline appearing in two other panels. Wide right margin has pencil sketch of typical Mignola creature (shown online). Mignola has signed his last name at bottom margin. Top margin has inked "Almost Colossus #1" story title and right margin has blue pencil editorial notation. Art remains clean and Exc. Nice example of Hellboy art by his creator.
