Item Description
Complete set of 32 artboards, each 11.5x14.5" featuring pen and ink original art for Outer Limits #1, published by Dell Jan.-March 1964. Art is by Jack Sparling (1916-1997), a comic artist who provided art for a variety of publishers from the 1950s through the 1970s, including Harvey Comics and Charlton Comics' adaptations of The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman as well as work on Classics Illustrated. Based on the classic 1960s TV shows, art features complete alien invasion story akin to The War Of The Worlds entitled Battleground Of Monsters, where strange creatures from outer space invade Earth, and no weapons can stop them. Each artboard has printed Dell Comics and Outer Limits name at left and stamped title at top margin. First artboard has replacement hand-lettered text block in first panel w/glue staining surrounding it. Margins have some scattered editorial notations and dust soiling, but art remains clean and Exc. for the most part. Comes w/reading copy of the comic book this art was produced for.
