Item Description
When Joe Simon and Jack Kirby introduced Captain America in March 1941, the United States had not yet entered World War II. Festooned in patriotic red, white and blue, Cap led the charge of American comic heroes draped in the colors of the flag. Now, 80 years later, Captain America soldiers on, continuing to grace the pages of Marvel comic books, as well as the silver screen.

From Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011 to 2019's Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers has been portrayed by actor Chris Evans. Over the course of seven blockbuster films, Evans has become one of the cornerstones of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, garnering legions of ardent fans and propelling Captain America to even greater heights.

While Evans has since passed the mantle of Captain America to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson, one thing remains the same - that iconic shield. One of the most recognizable emblems in the pop culture landscape, Cap's shield has secured its rightful place as a touchstone in the American story. An Evans screen-used shield from Captain America: The Winter Soldier even resides within the halls of the National Museum of American History.

Hake's Auctions is proud to offer Chris Evans' screen-used hero prop shield from Avengers: Endgame in Auction #233. Constructed by Marvel Studios Senior Prop Master Russell Bobbitt, the shield is 24" in diameter, approximately 3" deep and is constructed of high density foam, with a spun aluminum exterior and hand-crafted leather arm and hand straps on the interior. 30 to 40 shields were produced for Endgame, but this example was used for close-up shots in Evans' hand as it shows the most detail and its spun aluminum surface exhibits a mesmerizing metallic sheen. The other prop shields made for Endgame were used in long shots and action sequences, lasting one or two scenes before sustaining damage from use associated with stunt work. This shield was handled with care on set so it could be utilized in multiple scenes, making this shield's near pristine condition an even rarer feat.

This shield was gifted to youth empowerment nonprofit Sand Sisters Los Angeles Inc. by Marvel Studios' Executive Vice President, Victoria Alonso and was offered in February 2020 in a raffle by Sand Sisters (now known as Girl Powerful). During promotion for this raffle, Chris Evans himself tweeted "Hey guys, you have a chance to win a screen-used Captain America shield from Avengers: Endgame to support @GirlPowerful__ who are community leaders in real life." The raffle brought in $155,801. This very same shield is now being offered by Hake's Auctions.

Shield shows just trace wear, with tiny 1/8" surface paint flake to outer red ring (above top point of star) and some very minor edge wear. Prop still retains and bright and impressive appearance and is sure to become the centerpiece of any Marvel collection. This hero prop has been authenticated by Marvel Studios Senior Prop Master Russell Bobbitt and comes with custom crafted plaque as well as an LOA, both signed by Bobbitt. An absolute must-have for any serious Captain America fan and a rare opportunity to obtain a key screen-used MCU hero prop. One of the most important Marvel film props to ever come to auction, both in terms of its iconic stature and its ironclad provenance.
