Item Description
19.25x21.75" original art on coarse stock titled at bottom "Me And Younanious." A skeletal figure "Korean War" in conversation w/"HST" stating "Why Harry, It Would Be Tantamount To Treason For You To Desert Our Battlefield And Go Back To K.C. And The Pendergast Boys" to which Truman responds "You Grabbed The Gab Right Outa My Mouth." Moderate age toning at edges, slightly wavy paper and light handling. Fine. Batchelor was the first cartoonist to win a Pulitzer prize in 1937 for a cartoon featuring a similar female skeleton as is depicted here. Much of his early work was in support of women's suffrage. The majority of his political cartoon work was for the New York Daily News.
