Item Description
SEE PREVIOUS SIX LOTS FOR FULL DETAILS ON THIS HISTORIC STAR WARS COMIC PROJECT. Offered here are four 20x24" stat sheets, each featuring three comic strips, adapting the opening sequence of Star Wars. As explained in the prior lots, the original art for these stats was created by Al Williamson (1931-2010) in 1977 and these stats feature art from the proposal for the first two weeks' worth of daily strips. This includes the six strips currently in the possession of George Lucas as well as the six strips we are offering in this auction. While initially scrapped, this art would eventually see publication in The Art Of Al Williamson book by James Van Hise (1983) and more recently in Marvel/IDW's Star Wars: The Classic Newspaper Comics Vol. 2 (2017) hardcover.
