Item Description
Matted to 11x14" (5-1/8x8" w/added margins). Early and attractive portrait stipple engraving by Cornelius Tiebout, made between 1796 and 1800 with "Vice President Of The US" banner. Tiebout is credited w/creating most maps in Colles seminal 1789-90 Survey of Roads in the United States and is one of America's first born engravers. Strong and bright w/inventory pencil marks in margin. Rare depiction of Jefferson held by both the National Portrait Gallery and LOC. Exc.
