Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage matte postcard depicting five different scenes: snowball battle, baseball team, tug-of-war, football and pole vault. Identification at bottom reads "U.S. Naval Station, Great Lakes, Illinois - Sports at the Station". Credit for production on back left border reads "Published by S. Gold, U.S. Naval Station Photographer, Copyright 1917". By far the visual standout here is the clarity of the baseball team image. As always, postcards combining baseball and military are highly collectible and this example is certainly no different. Divided postcard back has been postally cancelled on October 25, 1918. Moderate corner wear present with some corner creasing visible. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
