Item Description
18x25" thin paper poster for proposed "New Forest Festival," which was to take place Oct. 3-8, 1975 in Polk City, IA but was ultimately canceled. The festival was to feature a variety of musical acts - including Redbone - w/proceeds going to "Build New Forest, A Vegetarian Village." Poster features fantastical forest image w/volcano and castle at top left/right corners. Poster lists a variety of performers as well as noting magic and puppets shows, arts and crafts and off-site free camping. Bold red text at bottom notes "Shut Down," w/small text noting the festival being canceled by the Polk County Board of Adjustment, w/critical text being presented in an old-time manner. This text also notes that sales of these $3 posters would go towards the establishment of New Forest and payment of bills accrued. Back has been signed in pencil by Scott Allan Ross. Some minor handling wear at top margin, but o/w Exc. Rare and obscure. File copy from the archives of artist Scott Allan Ross.
