Item Description
14x30.25” high quality frame contains original pen and ink art by Al Capp that has been professionally matted to 6-3/8x22.5”. Three-panel comic strip ran Oct. 21, 1948, first panel having United Features Syndicate, Inc. copyright paste-over. Strip deals with Abner (holding Shmoo) in first panel, visiting Ole Man Mose asking him if he will win the Sadie Hawkins Day race on Nov. 13th. Ole Man Mose proceeds to tell Abner he will find out if he consults the “Magic Mirror” to which Abner asks “Mirror, Mirror On Th’ Wall – Whol’ll Be Th’ Fastest One Of All?” to which Abner’s reflection replies “Ah Will!!” causing Ole Man Mose to slap his head in frustration. Signed by Capp in third panel, art is framed and ready for display. Great daily strip featuring a Shmoo appearance during the first year of the lovable creature’s existence.
