Item Description
3.25x5.5" government postcard postmarked Houston, TX April 25, 1953 and addressed to Richard Merkin with Brooklyn, NY address. Ballpoint pen signature dated April 24,1953 on reverse "To Richie From Dick Kerr." Merkin has typed a note at top of card back. Card has lt. handling wear mostly noticeable at corner tips. Back has scattered pinpoint dots. Handwritten date has a few lt. ink smears. Overall Fine. Kerr pitched for the White Sox in 1919-1921 and 1925. He won 13 games in both his starts in the 1919 World Series which also involved the Black Sox scandal which led to the permanent suspensions of eight players though Kerr himself was not involved. Kerr's ERA for three seasons was 3.84. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and LOA JSA.
