Mead Schaeffer (1898-1980) was a book and magazine illustrator from early to mid 20th century. He was a personal friend of Norman Rockwell and Schaeffer and his family often posed as models for Rockwell's Saturday Evening Posts illustrations. Schaeffer illustrated several books for publisher Dodd-Mead between 1922 and 1930 and for the next twenty years worked as a magazine illustrator. Interesting use of light and shadow.
