Item Description
6x20.75" thin cardboard folder has cover designed like cash register w/"The Sales Force That Stands Up And Sells!" text and opens to reveal 12x20.75" stage design bkg. w/two rows of die-cut stiff paper comic strip characters standing in front (total of 27 figures). ©1952 Metropolitan Sunday Newspapers Inc. Stand-ups have both vertical and horizontal perforated borders and main characters include Dick Tracy, Nancy, Joe Palooka, Annie & Sandy, Walt & Skeezix, Steve Canyon, Li'l Abner, Alley Oop, Smokey Stover, Andy Gump, Smitty, Denny Dimwit, others. Each has character and artist name along w/respective copyright, designed to punch out and stand up separately. Foreground has text promoting "45,000,000 Regular Readers Of Metro Sunday Comics." Back has promotional text including list of top Sunday newspapers in various cities. Instructions say to fold back side tabs so characters will stand erect but none of these vertical perforations have been perforated. As the front is propped up, the open display is very attractive w/both rows of characters partially die-cut. Slightest aging but choice condition. Lightest aging along spine on cover but VF w/contents clean, bright and Exc./NM. Great dynamic design. Rare and only the third example we've seen in our 47 years.
