Item Description
c. 1980 commissioned for Price Guide but never used. Illustration board has 9.25x14.5” image area in India ink and watercolor. Dynamic scene has Skywolf tackling The Heap around neck as he chases terrified woman down craggy hillside. Signed “Mort Leav” in ink at lower right. Exc. Reverse side has attached but worn tissue overlay for Price Guide logo. Mort Leav (1916-2005) worked in Golden Age superhero comics and co-created The Heap who first appeared in “Air Fighter” #2 Nov. 1942. Skywolf followed in issue #3. Leav would go on to do storyboards for early TV commercials. Exceptional design. From the Robert M. Overstreet Collection. Comes with COA.
