Item Description
1.25" real photo with text "Lord Mayor Of Cork Terence MacSwinney."  Bottom edge of front has text which is the copyright notice of the photographer Underwood & Underwood and this reads "Cpt. U. & U. N.Y."  Reverse has 1" hairline split by the collet but with cello laying perfectly flat and the front of the button displays Mint although a little off center to the right.  He was elected as the Sinn Fein Lord Mayor Of Cork during the Irish War Of Independence in 1920.  He was arrested by the British on charges of sedition and imprisoned in Brixton prison in England.  After 74 days on a hunger strike he died on October 1920 and the Irish struggle achieved international attention.  Only example known to us.  Hake book Collectible Pin-Back Buttons photo example National Heroes #135.  Comes with Hake's COA.
