Item Description
3.5" celluloid shows the flags of WWI allied nations. Top has a small red cord while bottom curl names maker and city "Bendahan & Co. Montevideo." Front of the piece is inscribed with text translating to "Honor Fatherland." Reverse of the piece has brass rivet holding seven circular stiff paper sheets with the outer sheet translating to "Program: The Evening Of 14 July 1917/Chaired By The Minister Of France/Organized By The Union Joan Of Arc/And The Committees For France And Descendants Of France/Orchestra Directed By Mr. L. Sambucetti/Theatre Solis/9pm/Montevideo." Outer sheet has a few soil marks on it while the interior ones are clean and list musical titles, performers, etc. Reverse has 1" long cello split with cello pulling away and leaving a gap of 1/16" although this is barely detectable at all from the front which remains bright, clean and glossy. A most unusual WWI item from South America. Limited issue and rare.
