11.25x13.5" Whitman coloring book No. 1653, a 1975 reprint of the 1966 coloring book. Front cover has inked note at top reading "Job #A64946 © 1966," indicating it as a Whitman file copy. Cover shows wear w/pinch creases to spine. Pages remain unused and lightly aged. Fine/VF overall. Coloring book comes w/12.5x14-7/8" acetate sheet w/paste-up of book's back cover text design. This sheet has attached onionskin sheet w/various production color notes and attached sheet noting to "Watch For - Back Cover Color Chart For: #A64946 Superman Color By Number - #A64947 Batman Color By Number", indicating that this was used for both Whitman books. Onionskin sheet shows obvious wear and is VG. This dual use on a Batman book is further verified by accompanying sheet w/handwritten "Watch For" note that also mentions both Color By Number books. Lastly is 15.5x18.25" Crescent artboard w/attached sheet having hand-painted colors for Superman book's cover. This comes w/positive production film sheet featuring the linework for the cover so that when aligned, it gives the appearance of the finished publication's cover. Artboard shows lt. aging/handling wear but painted area remains clean and would frame w/film sheet for an Exc. display.
