Item Description
2x3" w/"Portland 44" union bug in field at bottom center. Trace of age toning at edges otherwise extremely clean. NM. Issued during Kennedy's historic Oregon Primary campaign. After his victory in the Nebraska Primary RFK realized the uphill battle he would have to wage in Oregon noting in a speech "If Think That If I Get Beaten In Any Primary, I Am Not A Very Viable Candidate." He campaigned at a rigorous pace in the three weeks leading up to the May 28th vote but ultimately didn't connect w/Oregon voters who handed Eugene McCarthy a major victory. A week later he rebounded to take the victory in the South Dakota and California primaries but was assassinated in the minutes after addressing the crowd at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles.
