Collection Detail

Thomas E. Tumbusch (1939-2016) was the publisher at Tomart Publications, a producer of contemporary collectible price guide books and magazines. The company published its first book in 1977. Included among the books published by Tomart are seven works on Disney collectibles authored by Tumbusch, plus the magazines Tomart's Disneyana Update and Tomart's Action Figure Digest, both of which he was editor-in-chief. Tomart Publications also published Tomart's Guide to Radio Premium and Cereal Box Collectibles, Tomart's Guide to Character & Promotional Glasses as well as Tomart's Guide to Worldwide Star Wars Collectibles, Tomart's Price Guide to Hot Wheels Collectibles, and over 40 other titles. In addition, Tumbusch was a regular featured theatre columnist for Dayton USA Magazine and a featured writer on Disney collectibles for Disney Magazine. Tumbusch was listed as an expert on contemporary collectibles in Warman's, Mahoney's, and several other antique and collectible guides. He appeared on TV and radio talk shows and was consulted on nostalgia subjects by such publications as The Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, The Los Angeles Times, Orlando Sentinel, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and Money Magazine. When asked for advice on collecting, Tumbusch advised to collect what you like and go "hog wild." Hake's once again offers items from the Tomart Archives, many of which are the actual examples that appeared in their various publications. These items cover a wide range of collecting interests, with much Disneyana, including a complete run of Disney Studio Christmas cards and many other rare and unique items in this auction.
