Auction #215 - Part II
Item numbers 988 through 2613 in auction 215
Item Description
3x6.5x5.75" tall tin litho piano w/built-in key has attached dimensional tin litho figures of 5.75" tall African-American man seated in chair (w/replaced interior rod) and standing 7.5" African-American man dancing w/banjo. 1930s. Toy is lithographed on both sides and front of piano and three sides of chair w/images of male and female minstrels. Toy works well and one figure dances and moves his banjo around while other figure's chair moves up and down causing hands to move around on keyboard. Music lithographed on front of piano above keyboard is "Dixie Blues." Wear to toy mostly centers where parts move, including lower legs of banjo player and where hands touch banjo top and bottom, piano player has most wear on sides of coat where he goes up and down in the chair and sliver of paint off shoulder. Piano itself has few scattered paint nicks w/3" scratch to top and all-over dust soiling. Fine overall and still a nice displayable example of this classic toy.
