Item Description
Sizes are 7/8” to 1.25” for the ones from the early 1900s while at 3.5” is a John Deere button from the 1930s with wood grain cardboard reverse. First item is actually a candy maker rebus reading “Eat (Plow) Candies.” Couple of faint tiny age dots on the rim. Reverse is a lapel stud with the tin back marked by the St. Louis firm Haskell. This is c. 1898. The rest of the items are pin-back buttons. These include Fuller & Johnson with a few faint tiny grey dots, Peerless with a few pinpoint black dots on the left, Hummer showing winged human figure on plow pulled by birds. Additional buttons for Case, Oliver, Adriance, Peru Plow (with Nebraska state seal) and a pair in two sizes for the “Imperial” by Bucher & Gibbs. On the smaller one the red has faded. The larger one displays Mint although without back paper. The large button promotes the “John Deere Chis-L-Point Plow Bottom.” Numerous but for the most part light surface scratches. Many show in reflected light but yet with normal viewing appearance still remains clean. Vast majority of the other buttons are Exc. to NM. A nice group from an old-time collection.
