Item Description
Sizes are 1.5” to 2.2.5”. The one encased in tin with a center crank has text on each side “Janesville Barb Wire Co./Janesville, Wis./Apex Fence.” Metal end is off the cloth tape and numerals are worn off the first few inches but otherwise the winding mechanism is in working condition. The other seven tapes are all celluloid encased. The first from early 1900s is for “Griffith & Boyd’s Bone Fertilizers.” Light wear with the reverse panel very slightly concave but overall Fine and among the earliest issues. Reverse has hairline glue repair where the center panel joins the side edge. Vast majority remains clean. A rarity. Next is for “Western Stock Remedies.” A few small touches of age spotting on each side. Next with a mirror on the underside is for “International Harvester Company.” Cello has stain and fading plus a couple of tiny craze lines. Still full gloss. Next is for a Mill & Elevator company. Cello side has .25” cut and a little wear while the underside is a mirror. Next is for product “Calf Weene.” Next for “Hilltop Laboratories/Aids To Poultry Health.” Last is for “Blue Seal Grain Products.” Couple tan color dots on one edge of one side. All have working tape measures.
