Item Description
Large 11-3/8x16" cloth-covered hardcover scrapbook documents the "Railroads On Parade" exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair. A joint effort by 27 eastern railroads, the exhibit was an admission only display over 17 acres and featured a spectacular show, showcasing transportation history w/emphasis on the history of rail transportation. Show was presented in front of a 4,000 seat enclosed area. This archive was personally compiled by Charles Allen, director of the exhibit. Extensive archive covers everything possible about the exhibit/show and includes numerous 3.5x5-5/8" real photos taken by Allen, programs, fliers, countless magazine/newspaper clippings, sheet music, large staff photos, letterheads, tickets, etc. See poster #962.
