Item Description
These are real photo buttons without dot pattern. Group begins with 1.75" “Chiquita” with aged W&H back paper from 1898. Celluloid remains clean although somewhat light contrast. Numerous small scratches will catch reflected light but the button displays with high gloss and clear details. Next is 1.25” without back paper. Shown is male midget wearing fez and holding big cigar with his name below “Little Prince.” Faint 1/8” tan dot on very top edge but mark at lower right was dirt now removed. Displays nicely and a rare button. Next 1.5" from early 1900s has concave back and bar pin. Button depicts a show poster for “Marvelous Marsh” a man who sped down a towering ramp on a bicycle and then dove head first into a 3’ deep pool of water. Reverse has tan age around the perimeter but none on the front. However cello, only seen microscopically, has 20 pinpoint pin pricks widely scattered. Button still looks great and is a rarity. Next is 1-11/16” sepia oval for fan dancer “Rudith Williams.” Button has a number of vertical scratches but again not at all obvious unless catching reflected light. Under normal viewing button displays glossy and Mint.
