Item Description
Sizes are 7/8” to 1.75”. Group begins with the first ever Oz button promoting a newspaper comic page in 1904. 1.25” with W&H back paper showing the character and with text “What Did The Woggle Bug Say?” This promoted Frank Baum’s newspaper comic page "Queer Visitors From The Marvelous Land Of Oz." Also see rare Oz book button #989. Next in the group is rare 1.75” which does show staining and which promotes 1923 movie with text “Ask Me About Harold Lloyd In ‘Safety Last’ California Theatre.” Reverse has back paper by Los Angeles maker Western Badge. It is in this movie that occurs one of the most famous images from the silent film era-Lloyd clutching the hands of a large clock as he dangles from the outside of a sky scraper above traffic. Next are a pair c. 1930 for Rin-Tin-Tin. One is for his Mascot serial "The Lightning Warrior" while the other is a litho and very likely a premium from his radio show sponsor Ken-L-Ration. This has a couple pinpoint dots off top center. Next is button for the 1936 classic and reads “Charlie Chaplin In ‘Modern Times.’” Next is early real photo button and probably from a theatrical group. This shows “May Stockton As ‘Bob’”. In bottom row the “Press S.O.S. Club/R-K-Orphum” has tiny traces of surface wear. All display NM to Mint with the exceptions noted. Numerous rarities.
