Item Description
4.25" tall (6.5" tall to top of raised handle) tin litho. Ohio Art, 1930s. Sides features great beach scene of Mickey Mouse wearing an innertube and chasing Minnie Mouse into water as swimsuit-clad Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow chase after them. The Atlantic City boardwalk/amusement pier can be seen in bkg. and "Atlantic City" name appears below group. Comes w/6.25" long generic tin litho shovel which shows lt. general wear from use. Small "Gordon" name has been etched by original owner at bottom of pail, left of "Atlantic City" name just above bottom rim. Pail has two tiny indent at Horace's legs and some lt. handling w/very minor crease by seam. Despite these minor issues, pail retains strong colors and is VF/Exc. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection, this is the actual example shown in their book "Comic Character Metal Sand Toys."
