Item Description
Linen-mounted 27-1/8x41" one-sheet poster for the 1948 re-release of the classic 1935 Marx Brothers film as noted by 1948 copyright at bottom margin and "A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Masterpiece Reprint." This text refers not to the poster itself, but instead the re-release of the film. "A Night At The Opera" was the Marx Brothers' first film for Paramount and is often ranked among their best. Poster features stunning art of Groucho, Harpo and Chico at top left in opera balcony by noted illustrator and caricaturist Al Hirschfeld. Photo images of co-stars Kitty Carlisle and Allan Jones at bottom. Poster was once folded, but is now linen-mounted, w/some moderate professional restoration to original fold lines and margins, giving poster an Exc. appearance. Scarce one-sheet, even for this later re-release.
