Item Description
3-5/8x6-3/8x4" tall wooden chest/base has two thin wire rods sticking up from internal wind-up mechanism. Pair of 5.5" tall carved and painted wooden jointed figures (w/jointed lead feet) are attached to these rods. Made in the US by Ives Mfg. Co. c. 1885. Front of chest/base has decal of well-dressed woman from the 1700s. This is aged and shows scattered wear. Dancer figures depict African-American woman and man, woman wearing original fabric skirt w/remnants of silk flower on top of her head. Man wears remnants of original cloth shorts and has turban-like fabric garment on his head. One of man's arms is cast plaster replacement and is broken at wrist w/missing hand. Figures are Good-VG. Wooden chest/base is VF/Exc. Toy works and comes w/long metal period key.
