Item numbers 978 through 2735 in auction 216
Item Description
Original illustrated cardboard box contains 6" long cast iron gun w/dark finish and pearlized white plastic grips w/"Gene Autry" signature in red. Kenton Hardware Co. c. 1940s. Box has original store price sticker and shows some scattered wear w/creases and tape at one corner. Box is complete and remains structurally sound. Fine. Raised "Gene Autry" name below bullet cylinder. Raised "Dummy" text inside cap chamber. Around 1941, many states banned fireworks and caps. Toy manufacturers complied and produced dummy guns, similar to normal guns except they were incapable of firing caps. These varieties were manufactured in lesser quantities and are rarer and more valuable. Grips have trace wear to Autry name but gun appears to have little to no use and is Exc.
