Item Description
First is 3.25x4.5x1.25" deep oval trinket box with state seal of New York on outside and reading "A United Democracy Greets Its Candidates Judge John F. Hylan Hon. Charles L. Craig Hon. Alfred E. Smith Hotel Astor October 10th, 1917". Minor handling wear to applied embossed silk seal and cardboard box. VG. Second is 9.75" dia. plate featuring an eagle in flight with two American shields chained to it talons each reading "Smith?" and "Hoover?" respectively in gilt gold paint. Additional text reads "For The People 1928". Hallmark on reverse for "Shaw" and "O.P. Co. Syracuse China". Exc. Third is 3.75x4.75x2" painted metal derby hat with elastic chin strap. Thick paper front is held on by elastic hat band and reads "Smile With 'AL' A Century Of Progress" with a background featuring the 1933 Worlds Fair logo. Paint wear on top of hat and scuffing on underside of brim at back. Fine. Julie Powell Collection.
