Item Description
The one button is 3.5” and has an applied paper designating the 1965 event in Kansas City. From the bar pin a keychain hangs suspending a large plastic boxing glove. The largest ribbons are 6” and all from the “Chicago Tribune” each designating an “Official” and dated for the years 1933, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1941. Each has a thumb tack hole on each corner and the one from 1938 has a split at mid-point with cellophane tape repairs on the reverse. Remaining three ribbons consist of a pair from NYC “Semi-Finals” one from 1972 and the other 1978 and third ribbon simply has text “Golden Anniversary Golden Gloves.” The remaining items all consist of an enamel bar across the top reading “Official.” The first of these reads “Tournament Of Champions 1948” with a brass center piece reading “The News Golden Gloves.” The remaining all with a blue enamel bar have that inscription although most say “Eastern Championships” and each suspends a metal glove. These are a complete run from 1949-1961 plus a pair of later pieces from 1977 and 1979. Other than the Chicago ribbons, items are largely Exc. to Mint.
