Item Description
Each is a 7/8” litho from the 1930s made by Cruver. Hake-Levin “Buttons In Sets” lists only forty three known at time of publication in 1984. Over the years I added eight to the master list I keep but this quantity of 102 different in all came as a complete surprise. Of what was previously known only the “Miniature Schnauzer ‘Jeff Of Wallaton’” is missing so this group comprises 101 of 102 now known. The paint, as is typical on the vast majority, which we have seen in the past, has darkened. However, only about 20 have a small area of paint actually worn and images and all the text is totally readable on all the buttons. Each button includes the word “Champion” followed by the name of the breed followed by that dog’s specific personal name in quotation marks. There are very few button sets with over 100 individual pieces so we have no clue why single examples from this series are so infrequently seen. Overall condition is very good and probably the largest group that will ever be assembled.
