Item numbers 978 through 2735 in auction 216
Item Description
Both versions of "Soft - Cuddly - Safe" plush dolls of Batman issued by Mego, ©1974 NPP, Inc. Mego produced a series of these dolls that included Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and The Lone Ranger. Both dolls have vinyl-fronted cowls (w/back being felt that continues into cape) w/printed cloth heads underneath, felt bodies w/printed felt chest logo. Large 25" tall talking version has vinyl belt w/metal buckle (other is missing). Talking feature works. Small, non-talking 20" tall doll (w/o belt) has elastic strap at neck of felt cape (other does not, but cape remains attached to doll as made). This doll has 3/8" area w/tears to thin vinyl between eyes w/tape repair. Dolls are both lightly aged. Fine-VF. All softies are scarce as they were a Mego concept that did not sell well. From the collection of Chip Kidd, renowned author, graphic designer and pop culture enthusiast extraordinaire.
