Auction #216 - Part II
Item numbers 978 through 2735 in auction 216
Item Description
First piece is a pin 1.25” tall. The piece is comprised of dark blue enameling on brass and this is of a design we’ve never offered before. Reverse of the piece still has some silvering and there is a circular plate with a vertical tube through which the base of a 1” vertical pin is affixed. The front of the piece was likely all once silvered but this thin coating has evaporated so his body areas which are not blue enamel are largely muted brass tone. Likely English. Second item and slightly larger at 1-7/16” tall is a die cut and embossed figure of Mickey looking to the right with his hands on his hips. No markings. The reverse of the piece at the bottom has a small brass loop positioned as if to hold the point of a vertical pin. However, there is no pin and not even a corresponding mark at the top where it would have been anchored. Front of the piece has a tiny bit of pitting of the metal on his shoes but the other tiny marks on his body areas are the result of intentional stippling of the metal as made. Likely German or English and the only example we’ve seen in our 48 years. Another pair of rarities.
