Item Description
This big 3” button pictures her with text “Be My Guest” and names “Westinghouse TV-Radio.” She was performing in live television in 1948 when she was asked to step in for an actor to do a Westinghouse products commercial during the break. The company was impressed with her style and offered her a contract to promote their products. Early TV viewers will remember her in commercials next to an opening refrigerator door with her tagline “You Can Be Sure…If It’s Westinghouse.” In 1969 LBJ offered her the position Special Assistant for Consumer Affairs and following that Gov. Rockefeller appointed her Executive Director of the New York state Consumer Protection Board. This button dates from her early 1950s career. First we’ve seen. A couple faint .5” to 1” hairline scratches show only in reflected light as they are not deep at all. Button displays Mint. Rare.
