Item Description
1.75” showing the son of Chief White Eagle. Horse Chief Eagle became the last hereditary Chief of the Ponca tribe. This and several other buttons in the series relate to an event at the famous 101 Ranch in Bliss, Oklahoma held June 11, 1905. The history of this amazing event can be found on the internet. The favorable publicity following the event catapulted the 101 Ranch into the forefront of entertainment spectaculars. Reverse has covered metal back with stamp of St. Louis Button Co. There is a vertical stickpin fastener. Metal back has 5% with darker oxidation marks. Front has .25” vertical scratch on rim between the words “Chase” and “101” but all else is clean and with full gloss. Rare. Our last exceeded $800 .See 101 Ranch poster #798.
