Item Description
The earliest radio sponsor was Silvercup bread. Both of these badges are from 1934 and consist of the 7/8” silvered brass and blue enamel paint version for the basic member as well as the larger 1.75” brass luster badge for the elevated rank of “Chief Scout.” The first is as Mint as any we’ve seen and the second has vast majority of luster and accent paint remaining. They come along with a card folded as issued to postcard size and printed on all four sides. One side is addressed to “The Lone Ranger/Station WGN/Chicago, Illinois.” This side has a full-length vertical rubber band mark. The side opposite this pictures the member badge and the interior displays the “Safety Scout Pledge” and has an order form to sign, tear off and mail to acquire the member badge. This folder is actually rarer than either of the badges. A terrific group of the earliest Silvercup club items.
